Alstro's brows furrowed.
"Do not be mistaken. There are still those I have faith in. Still those I can call ally." Alstro attempted to continue to speak as she had, but quickly she found her anger bleeding through and no way to stop it.
"Rest assured, I have always been willing to suffer. To risk loss. To put my life on the line. What else is life for a commoner in Lagalla? You have no choice but to suffer and endure with what you are given, and hope that you don't make a mistake that ends your life!"
Alstro stopped herself. She took a deep breath.
"Every time I have trusted, I have been punished for it." She said, more calmly. "No doubt a through tongue lashing awaits me when I arrive in Zodia. For trusting people I had known my entire life. For trusting people I had no reason to doubt, other then the fact that their circumstances had them leading the lives of criminals- though they tried to make the best of it. People who, for a long time, were the only choice I thought I had for allies if I wanted to change anything about the country I hold dear. And... they betrayed me. Told lies. Broke promises. All with two swings of an axe. I thought I knew them, and I did not."
Another deep breath, Alstro looked away from Laird and up towards the sky. She gripped tightly on her staff.
"I do not intend give up on Lagalla. I do not intend to hide from what I've done. Rest assured, I am willing to pay the price for it."
