Social Traits
Backstory:
Trigger warning: brainwashing, emotional abuse and attempted sexual assault
Rinzu was born around Fánróng Gǔ and she doesn’t really remember much before the day of her kidnapping. What she remembers was playing in the forest with the other kids and quickly becoming separated from them. She ended up tripping while picking berries and someone picking her up and covering her mouth. Next thing she knew she was in a cage on a ship set for Lagalla.
Tagged as Lot 216, Rinzu was bought by Alexis Blackwilde for 5,000 credits. She started her life in the Blackwilde estate as a kitchen servant. Her first day in the house she transformed and tried to escape. Panicking, she ripped off her tag and managed to find her way into lady Wilhelmina’s room, where she first met Ninon (a giant panda taguel), Lady Blackwilde, and her 7 year-old son Weslan. A few words were exchanged by the lady and Rinzu before two alligator laguez (Jute and Drugget) and a snake laguez (Habutai) came and took her away.
Habutai places her into a small room and takes her beaststone from her and explains to her that she will get it back when she deserves it and that she needs to learn how to behave. He explains that she is going to stay in this room until he comes back to let her out. She was left in the dark, locked room for what felt like hours. She could hear him muttering to someone outside and then the door opened. It was Ninon. She took the young taguel back to Lady Blackwilde’s room. Once there, the lady of the house explained to Rinzu that after talking to her husband Rinzu will no longer be working in the kitchen and that instead she will be a playmate to Weslan and learn to become a performer under Ninon’s care.
In the first week of becoming Weslan’s playmate, they were playing tag and he pulled on Rinzu’s tail. She started crying from the pain and startled Weslan, not knowing that he had done anything wrong. He tried a bunch of silly things to try to get her to stop and smile. When she finally laughs she tells him to never pull on her tail and he pinky promises he will never do it again. He did not ever want to make her cry ever again.
“I promise I’ll never pull your tail again.” Weslan said with a determined glint in his eye.
Rinzu believed him, they were friends, after all.
During the rest of their childhood, the two were inseparable. It was a golden era for the both of them. The odd pair would always be found together if they were not attending to their studies or trying to go outside of the estate into the city. Weslan would always tell his mother of their adventures, which made the lady happy that her son had a companion like she did with Ninon.
During Rinzu’s 12th spring, Lady Wilhelmina's illness took a turn for the worse. On her deathbed she had three wishes. One: To her husband, that she absolutely wanted Rinzu to be Weslan’s accessory. (She wished for their relationship to be as pivotal to him as her’s was with Ninon). Two: To Weslan, to remain kind to the world, his country, Rinzu, and the other servants-- he was their only, precious, heir, after all. Three: To Rinzu, to please take care of her son and to continue to be a friend to him. That same wish applied to Alexis to his son.
After the funeral Rinzu calmed down for awhile on trying to leave the estate. Weslan became her first priority. Given the Lady Blackwilde’s passing, and her dying wishes, Rinzu’s childhood met a swift and abrupt end. Though Master Alexis and Habutai both had been grooming Barathea for Weslan’s personal accessory-- and against Alexis’ personal feelings on the matter (Rinzu was unbroken, headstrong and too prone to aggression), Rinzu’s training began.
Ninon took Rinzu more frequently from her dancer’s practices and from her time with Weslan to coach her on becoming the ultimate Accessory for the young master. Rinzu learned the best way to dress him, how to write in cursive and calligraphy, how to send and receive missives, and how to cater to Weslan’s every need. She, too, learned how to host dinners, parties-- both big and small, and how to entertain guests. While she kept up with her dancing, the Red Panda was kept quite busy.
Weslan, on the other hand, was shunted from boyhood into proper mage training. Alexis spared no expense, diving deep into teaching his son all he needed to know to be both an exemplary heir and mage. Tutors from far and wide were brought in to help him become the best and brightest.
It was soon decided that once Weslan came of age, he would be sent to boarding school to further his training. Weslan agreed on one stipulation.
“Rinzu, as my personal Accessory, is to never serve other patrons when she dances for others, like the others do.” He made it clear. “You will keep her safe, and sound, while I am gone.”
Their schedules, though similar, kept them far apart more often that not. Still, that didn’t stop each of them from seeking the other. Be it rocks at the window or leaving little notes for each other, they were still able to foster their long-running friendship. Weslan and Rinzu remained inseparable, but they just got more creative about it. They, too, grew more urgent in their meetings.
They knew their time together was limited.
In the little moments between their duties, though rare, the two were able to catch up, share laughs, and reminisce on easier times with newly nostalgia’d eyes. In between, in those moments, came little promises, too.
“Rinzu, when I’m the heir, I can do whatever I want. We should travel! We can go see your home.” Weslan said with a smile. “I’d love to see it. I heard that Fánróng Gǔ is beautiful.” His look lingered on Rinzu a little longer than it needed to.
Those little promises changed the game.
The night before Wes was supposed to leave, he and Rinzu met in the garden in secret. It was another little, stolen, moment. This one, though, held more weight. The starry-eyed teenagers looked towards the future with a little fear, but a lot of excitement.
Then and there, he kissed her.
“Rinzu. Can you wait for me?” He asked her. He nervously held her hands, thumbing over them. “I want to keep my promises, my word… though it will take a while…? Remember? We can travel! And no one can hold us down.”
She paused, her cheeks hot and hurting from smiling so hard.
“Of course I’ll wait for you Wes.” There was no hesitation in her voice. “When you come back, I’ll be here, waiting for you.”
Sharing one more embrace, they swore it to each other once more. With another small kiss, they parted ways with a promise fresh in their hearts.
Just like that, Weslan was gone in one day. Rinzu was left back at the Blackwilde estate.
Once Weslan left for school, Rinzu had tried her best in her duties as an accessory and performing. She shadowed Ninon and Habutai learning everything she could from them. She stopped trying to leave the house altogether, remembering Wes’s promises and dreaming of the day that he would return. Her love became her undoing.
Every once and awhile Habutai would deliver letters from Weslan to Rinzu. Habutai saw through Rinzu’s try-hard nature. He saw her love, her affection and used it to temper her. The letters he passed to her were carefully timed. Habutai praised her, too. He told her whispers, some lies, some not, of how proud Weslan would be of her.
“You’re becoming the perfect Accesssory, Rinzu, dear.” Habutai smiled, dim and cool. “Just perfect for Masssster Wesslan. Aren’t you happy to hear he’ll be returning in only two more yearsss?”
Habutai’s methods worked with ruthless efficiency. Between the letters and the praise, Rinzu’s ambitions drained away entirely. She fell right into line with the rest of the beast tribe servants. Love was a shackle, and Rinzu did not even notice. Lagalla was home now. Weslan was home. They were in love, after all. She would be perfect for him.
This carried on for all four years in his absence, her love of the idea of Weslan was pounded effectively into her head.
Finally, the night came. Four long years later, word spread through the house of the the young master’s graduation and would soon be returning. A huge party was planned for the day of Weslan’s arrival. Anyone who was anyone would be there. The dance troupe would be featured, highlighting the prowess of his Personal Assistant. Knowing this, Rinzu worked harder than ever to become the star dancer of the show and nail her solo performance. She wanted everything to be perfect.
In a stunning combination of dance and flute (think Lindsey Stirling w/ a flute crossed with bellydance), she danced for Weslan. Regardless of the crowd, regardless of the numbers, there was only one person in the room besides herself. She could feel his eyes on her and it compelled her forward.
Once Rinzu completed her time in the spotlight, breathless, she returned to her dressing room. Soon after, there was a knock. Ears perked and heart pounding, Rinzu opened the door to find Weslan.
Though he reeked of alcohol, it was a celebration. She thought little of it when he brought a heavy bottle of liquor with him. He showered her with praises and all of those sweet words she wanted to hear. The first kiss was heavenly, Weslan drew her close and they shared in a wonderful embrace. She felt the return of a real smile… only to feel her stomach turn, realizing that something was off.
The problem came when she went to pull away. He held on, still slurring compliments all the while. Holding her close, he backs her onto a table and pushes her against the vanity. Squirming away, Rinzu manages to scramble away in confusion.
“Weslan, stop!”
“Whas the matter Rrinsu? You were perfecct~”
He followed her, stumbling after her, around the room. She was able to duck and dodge, but Weslan’s very size caught up to the nimble panda. As she dodged out of the way, he reached out and got a fistfull of her tail. He yanked her back and Rinzu saw nothing but red. Their bodies were flush to each other, far too intimately. She felt nothing but panic and his hands on her.
It wasn’t supposed to be like this.
Scrambling, Rinzu grabbed the very bottle he toted in, whirled around, and smashed it over Young Master Weslan’s head. Immediately, he crumpled to the floor. Rinzu’s panic remained. Breathing heavily, she looked around the room and only began to stomach what had just happened when Ninon arrived at the door. The look on the Giant Panda’s face was just as panicked.
“Rinzu what have you done?”
“I-- he--” Rinzu’s face was flushed with embarrassment, anger, and confusion. She could hardly speak, as she was shaking so hard. “His hands, Ninon. He was going to--”
“Rinzu.” Fear was plain on Ninon’s face, care was there too. “You have to go. Now. Immediately. GO!”
Without another word, with far too many questions, Rinzu took Ninon’s word to heart and she ran. All of those “escape” days with Weslan ran through her head as she took the all-too-familiar paths through the Blackwilde estate. Her heart pounded in her ears as she could hear a crowd starting to gather, voices starting to raise. People looking. People looking for her.
B-but it’s not my fault. He… he was the one… he was the one who... H͚̺̹̠̭̀̉̅ͮͥ̽E̓̔҉ ̈͋̊̿ͮ͑W̻̍̐̐͜Â̛̜͖͔͍̯̝ͬ͊ͪͨS̼̬̪̽̒ͩ͋̿ͣ͂͜ ̰̬̥̻̥̏ͅT͎̔̾̏͂͒̀́͜Ḣ̖̤̥̙ͯͪ̿͊̃͒E̲̫̤̜͓̲̣͐ͮ͐ ͎̜̽͗̏O̱̓N̶̪̺̟̗̝͇̈̍ͨ̿Ė̼̰̽́̋ͩͫ̆͞ ̳̳̞̠̜Ẅ̴͔̫͙̠̭́H̃́ͣ͗͌͝O̱͍ͥͧͩͭ̚ ̧̱͙ͧͭͫ̌͑L̲͈͎͚̺̳̂̋̐I̷͓̣̙̤̿̑̈̏͂ͭ̇Ë͚͇̭̮̝ͅD̫̜̖ͧͤͦͥ̎̀̕
Seeing red and seeing through tears, Rinzu vaulted over the estate’s final gate and continued to run and run. She did not stop for what seemed like an endless time. By the time she stopped, the very faintest hints of a sunrise began to peak over the horizon.
It was then when Rinzu realized, again, what she had done. There was no possible way that she could go back-- for many, many reasons. Half in desperation for a plan, half out of rage, she decided to follow her old dreams. Her dreams of home, of mother and father, of EVERYTHING that she’d given up for ȟ͇̭̩̫ͬͭ̽̏ͅí̲͓̩͕̻͈̰͜m̰̱̞̥ͤ̍ͭ͋͆́̚.̨̻̙͆
Boiling with rage, Rinzu was more grateful than ever for all the lessons she received as an accessory-in-training. She knew the way to the coast. She slept during the day and traveled fast and far at night. She ate little and stole what she could-- not a life to repeat. Until, finally, she came to the docks.
Before her were many, many ships and no concrete way to cross the sea. She didn’t exactly have currency to provide safe passage for herself. Still, Rinzu managed to slip in and stow away on a ship bound for Zodia.
Within days, her fortress of crates was raided by a certain Magpie-- Vet. Panicking, knowing that she was caught, she started swinging the weapon she stole days prior. She managed to hack off a small number of wing feathers, much to his chagrin.
Once Vet got her to calm down, he made an offer she couldn’t refuse. In exchange for favors, including paying back the feather she so rudely stole, he would see her safely to her homeland. Knowing that once she got off the boat she had no idea where to go, she begrudgingly agreed.
The pair have been traveling ever since.
Secrets:
Relations:
Wilhelmina “Minnie” Wilde- The late wife of Alexis. Died from an ongoing illness
(similar to tuberculosis) when Rinzu was 12. She was very kind to all of the servants in the house and a close friend to her accessory, Ninon.
Weslan “Wes” Blackwilde- 22, Heir of the Blackwilde house. Met when Rinzu first tried to escape. Became close childhood friends due to his mother. Over the years they became very close, until Wes went to school at the age of 18.
Barathea- 26 Panther Laguez. Jealous of Rinzu and always tries to one up her. Is very much a primadonna type. Was originally chosen by Lord Alexis to train to become Weslan’s accessory until Lady Minnie decided otherwise. She was born into captivity.
Silesia (white) and Surah (black)- 25, Peafowl Taguel. Twins. Close friends to Barathea
Habutai- Snake laguez. Alexis’s personal accessory. Has been with the Blackwildes since Minnie was young. He’s an old snake with many, many tricks. Is very good at illusions, hypnotism, and manipulation. The person that tried to break Rinzu’s spirit and make her behave, only succeeding after she fell in love with Weslan. He’s the reason Rinzu is afraid of snakes in all forms.
Jute and Drugget- Alligator laguezs. Work as bodyguards. Usually the ones who caught Rinzu when she tried to escape.
Tulle- Rinzu’s father. Taught Rinzu to play the flute.
Vet- Magpie taguel. Found Rinzu stowed away on a ship. Made a deal with her to take her back to her homeland in exchange for favors.

Secrets:
- Ever since she came to Lagalla, Rinzu has had a recurring nightmare of her being taken. It has now changed to her being sent back to Lagalla and facing Weslan.
- Every night Rinzu plays a song that her father taught her.
- Rinzu had fallen in love with Weslan.
- She hasn’t transformed since she was 5 and doesn’t really remember how.
- Absolutly hates to have her tail grabbed.
- Currently has a 10,000 credit bounty for her safe return.
- To break their “servants” in, and to punish them, the Blackwilde method is/was to completely isolate the Accessory in solitary confinement. This happened to Rinzu rather often during her young life.
Relations:
- Blackwilde family
Wilhelmina “Minnie” Wilde- The late wife of Alexis. Died from an ongoing illness
(similar to tuberculosis) when Rinzu was 12. She was very kind to all of the servants in the house and a close friend to her accessory, Ninon.
Weslan “Wes” Blackwilde- 22, Heir of the Blackwilde house. Met when Rinzu first tried to escape. Became close childhood friends due to his mother. Over the years they became very close, until Wes went to school at the age of 18.
- Dancing troupe and other servants
- Others
Tulle- Rinzu’s father. Taught Rinzu to play the flute.
Vet- Magpie taguel. Found Rinzu stowed away on a ship. Made a deal with her to take her back to her homeland in exchange for favors.
