What am I doing here?
Glassy-eyed, the dusty miqo’te stared at the stalls that lined the middle of the Eft Tribe village. It was uncomfortably crowded, and Sei made sure to remain close to Hunie. Initially she had stubbornly refused to even touch the other woman, but now she felt herself inclined to cling to her.
In all her life, she had never seen so many Seeker of the Sun. So many people that looked so similar to her. Perhaps it had been in a village like this she had been born in? To another, it might have been comforting to return to one’s roots. But to Sei, it only seemed to add to the torrent of thoughts that had suffocated her for the past few days.
Assassination. Traitor. Idiot. Murderer. Tribunal. Snapdragons. Weapon.
And now.
Outsider.
I don’t belong in a place like this.
Hunie had invited her out to get her mind off things. To clear her head, or so she had said. And Sei hadn’t put up a fuss. She no longer had the energy to. Just do what was asked and be done with it.
Had she even told Morgan that she had left for a bit? Had she told Lucie?
Idiot.
These past few days had been a daze. She didn’t even remember. But Hunie was here. She wasn’t alone. She looked down at the woman now browsing through the shops. Hunie was surely experienced at this.
“So how exactly do I do this to feel better?” Sei asked her bluntly.
